Writing your own story is one thing, but pure entitlement is another. Slowly, the Philadelphia 76ers must be growing tired of these never-ending antics, right?

Well, it seems like Ace Bailey is not done just yet with his quest to irk the 76ers to the effect that the franchise skips him altogether with the third overall pick. So far, reports point out that Philly’s brass remain unfazed by the sour developments coming out of Bailey’s entourage, still insistent on being open to the prospect of picking him at No. 3.

The 76ers will be on deck in a just a little while, and Bailey’s camp must be sweating profusely by now. Daryl Morey and his crew are reportedly going to make their choice purely off merits, which definitely does not bode well for the Rutgers product, who clearly has a landing spot in mind.

When asked about his decision to cancel his pre-draft workout with the 76ers during the draft prospects’ media availability, Bailey put on a defensive attitude, sidestepping questions on the matter and quite frankly, revealing his true colors before the draft.

Ace Bailey issues yet another red flag to the 76ers before the draft

”I'm just working on basketball, that's all I'm focused on," Bailey told reporters. "I can only control what I can control, you can think what you think... I'm focused on basketball."

Funny enough, as one of the media men propounded to him, whether or not to cancel a previously scheduled workout with the 76ers definitely falls squarely within those matters over which he has control. He is a grown man, and he cannot be presumed to be an unrelenting adherent to whatever his agent is telling him to do.

That he is solely focused on basketball is a great thing — only when you gloss over the fact that his camp has totally zeroed in on devising a way to send him elsewhere where he can perhaps lord over the ball and climb the pecking order right from the get-go. They know that is not happening in Philadelphia in Year 1, and they seem to be recalcitrant to the idea.

To make matters worse, it is not like the Philadelphia 76ers can haphazardly choose to just forego him. There are indeed some strategic perks that come with picking Bailey, and even if they keep him, he still packs a lot of promise as a high-level prospect.

It is just unfortunate that Ace Bailey is primed to be such a great talent, but he is making things tough for everyone with his inconsiderate and entitled stance. That is just not going to cut it for teams that value the intangibles outside the hardwood, and as harsh as it may sound, we can only call a spade a spade.
