The Philadelphia 76ers are not exactly in a state of flux as a franchise, but after implementing major shifts to their dynamic up top in the front office, more changes are expected to come, especially with the roster. After yet another disappointing playoff exit despite a relatively successful campaign, it is high time for the team to get even more serious about addressing their various needs as a collective.

In that regard, 76ers fans should probably get all revved up. Bob Myers, who is currently piloting the ownership group, recently sounded off on the points of emphasis for the front office this offseason, putting the spotlight on addressing the team's lack of three-point shooting and defensive rebounding. As every fan knows, those two have been this group's waterloo for quite some time now, making it a categorical imperative for those areas to get addressed.

Just like last season, the 76ers will not have a lot of spending power this summer, although they do have the exceptions to play with as they are not yet in the luxury tax zone. As a result, the front office will have to get extra creative in building out the roster, especially around the margins. This should be a great first test for Mike Gansey, Jameer Nelson, and the new-look brain trust.

The 76ers aim to address two key areas they desperately lack in this offseason

Philadelphia ranked near the bottom of the league in all three-point shooting metrics in the recently concluded season. Outside shooting was simply not their bread and butter, which made life tougher for their talented scorers to make the most of their gifts.

In the same vein, the 76ers clocked in as a bottom-third squad among all teams when it came to defensive rebounding. Joel Embiid's decline on that front did not help, but their lack of size across the board was the main reason why securing boards was not their thing at all. That weakness of theirs ended up getting exploited in the playoffs.

The best teams pay the most attention to detail –– there is no disputing that. Three-point shooting and defensive rebounding are the two most vital departments for teams desirous to be in championship conversation, so it is incumbent upon the front office to make those necessary upgrades.

Hopefully, Myers and the entire 76ers brain trust are not just grandstanding in laying down the actual entries on their summer whiteboard. This team's championship window is waning whether they like it or not, and they cannot afford another wasted year ruined right from the get-go by poor roster construction.
