The Philadelphia 76ers acquiring Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics in a shocking blockbuster trade this summer could very well end up being a landscape-altering move this season. However, it is not only the additional infusion of star power he brings to the table that his new team stands to savor. Another massive thing he brings with him is the ample playoff and Finals experience he has had thanks to his former ball club being perennial contenders for almost a decade now.

There is really no clear pecking order on the 76ers right now, although there is room for the argument that there is no need for one. Nevertheless, Brown was a bona fide MVP candidate just last season. With a championship and a Finals MVP trophy under his belt, he knows precisely what this team could need to finally get over the hump as he can draw from his experience with the Celtics to help lead the squad to the promised land.

The Celtics being perennial contenders will help the 76ers this season

Brown has 142 playoff games under his belt with the Celtics, a lofty figure that also includes 11 outings in the NBA Finals. Under his co-leadership with Jayson Tatum, Boston made it to the biggest stage twice, having experienced being with both the winning and losing parties.

Obviously, with LeBron James on the roster, Brown cannot claim to be the sole tide-shifter for the 76ers in that department. Joel Embiid also has ample experience in the playoffs, minus the Finals stints. However, it is crucial for this team to have another star like Brown who has gone through the thunder-dome and felt what it is like to lose and know what it takes to finally win.

At this point in his career, James should not be the lone carrier for the 76ers in the mental aspect of their impending championship bid. Teams already expect him to play the role of alpha when it is crunch time. That is where having Brown becomes critical because given how loaded this squad is, his championship experience could get macerated, if not completely overshadowed.

Boston went through lots of ups and downs before they finally made a breakthrough, and Jaylen Brown lived through it all. Philly is in the same boat, but without a title to show for it, the franchise is still on a desperate hunt. Luckily for them, the Celtics basically aided the enemy by handing the 2024 Finals MVP to the 76ers, a team in dire need of a proven playoff performer like him.
