Delusional rumor has greedy Knicks trying to rob the 76ers in broad daylight

New York is being delusional once again.

The Philadelphia 76ers are trying to win this season — that is pretty apparent to anyone following the NBA. In fact, they have gotten some surprising resurgences so far in this campaign, such as that which Adnre Drummond has turned in during his second go-round with the franchise. After all, the veteran center has emerged as one of the most vital players on the roster.

Now, thanks to Drummond bouncing back in a huge way this season, the 76ers seem poised to get some calls as to the availability of the former All-Star in trades. Drummond is indeed on an expiring contract, and his solid production despite being a bench player for the most part has a certain team looking hellbent on making a move for him.

According to SNY’s Ian Begley, Andre Drummond is someone whom the Knicks have eyed for quite some time already, making it feasible to believe that New York could try to get their hands on Drummond once more before the trade deadline.

Of course, if you are the 76ers, the only way to go around this development is to treat it like a benign pest craving for attention.

The Knicks are delusional to think that the 76ers would send Andre Drummond to New York

First off, Drummond has become an integral part of the 76ers’ rotation that the prospect of him no longer being in Philly should scare the front office a lot, especially with Joel Embiid still managing his load. With Adem Bona and Johni Broome not yet ready to assume consistent role, Drummond has made the most of his increased opportunities.

But more importantly, the Knicks could not possibly expect the 76ers, a division rival, to help them by sending Drummond to them. If this inference holds water, New York will clearly only want to snag Drummond from the 76ers’ grasps as a matter of luxury.

The Knicks already have Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson rounding out their center rotation. As long as both of them are healthy, it is difficult to envisage a situation where deploying Drummond would make a lot of sense.

As such, given those factors, the 76ers likewise have zero reason to entertain any offers made by the Knicks unless of course, the terms are so favorable to them.

The Knicks are suddenly acting all entitled, but the 76ers should — and probably would — not yield to their greedy rival in the Big Apple.
