Door just swung wide open for the 76ers to undo Paul George disaster

Time for the 76ers to do whatever it takes to get rid of him.

As if this failure of a season could not get any more obvious, the Philadelphia 76ers turned in another horrible performance last night, losing to another blatantly tanking team in the Brooklyn Nets to fall to 20-34, their worst record in almost a decade.

At this juncture, though, who would really bat an eye about the 76ers continuing to rack up shellshocking losses? That has been the defining trend of this campaign for the ball club, otherwise, a team sa talented as Philly would not be outside the postseason picture with just 28 games left on their schedule.

The manner by which they lost — or didn’t win — is not suprising, either. True to the spirit of a patent decline, Paul George made sure that to display a performance worth remembering, albeit for all the wrong reasons, by registering two points in 37 minutes of gameplay, draining just one of his pitifully low seven field goal attempts.

The 76ers could explore trading for Kevin Durant this season to jettison Paul George

Clearly, the 76ers have to do whatever it takes to move on from George, who has been an absolute disaster this season. While moving him and convincing another team to absorb his mammoth deal could be an ambitious proposition, they are not the only team apparently itching to make a change.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Phoenix Suns will most likely trade Kevin Durant during the upcoming summer. With the franchise seeking to reload once again on the heels of an underwhelming stint from their current Big Three comprising of him, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, they now seem poised to make another grand retolling.

It’s still hazy to pinpoint the reason why the Suns are so amenable to moving on from Durant, but if anything, their willingness to trade him elsewhere before the trade deadline — one only stopped by the All-Star himself — is pretty telling of their level of commitment to him.

As a result, the 76ers should try to be a frontrunner in the Durant sweepstakes should it commence as anticipated by some. George would be a downgrade for the Suns, but it could help them recoup draft capital from Philly while also still getting an All-Star who could thrive under a different dynamic.

The Philadelphia 76ers should approach the offseason with sheer desperation, one they should immediately manifest by trading Paul George. Otherwise, they could be in the same situation they find themselves in for the foreseeable future.
