After a brief pause to his career, former Philadelphia 76ers guard and veteran sharpshooter Seth Curry will reportedly ink a new deal with the Golden State Warriors. The move reunites him with his brother, the other Curry, in San Francisco. But more importantly, it will allow the 35-year-old to extend his career, which already looked like it was on a decline last season.

During the 2024-25 campaign, Curry was largely relegated to second-unit duty. While he was still a consistent part of the rotation, he was a mere afterthought therein, and his defensive presence was an oxymoron in and of itself as he had none of it. Still, thanks to the fact that he was playing in Charlotte, those went largely unnoticed.

With the Warriors currently struggling and Steph Curry now sidelined with another minor injury, Seth might just be able to be a part of the rotation right from the get go. That is definitely a good situation to jump in on for the former 76ers veteran, although it is interesting to see if he can still find a way to let his sweet shooting negate his lack of production everywhere else.

Former 76ers sharpshooter Seth Curry returns to the NBA

Curry, who spent nearly two seasons in Philadelphia as a full-time starter and their go-to floor spacer at that time for Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, was definitely one of the best role players the franchise had in recent memory.

While undersized as a shooting guard, he was able to remain more than serviceable thanks to his lethal spot-up shooting, having canned nearly 43 percent of his total three-point tries as a Sixer. Even better, he stepped up during the playoffs, and fans can probably still recall the piping hot performances he put up during the 2021 NBA playoffs.

Since getting traded as part of the blockbuster James Harden-Ben Simmons deal, Curry’s career has taken a downturn. His role has greatly waned since then, and his weaknesses have only become much more magnified and pronounced.

That makes it all the more pleasant to see Curry still be able to extend his career. Now with Golden State, he has an ideal system that should fit him like a tee, and his familiarity with his brother should definitely allow him to feel more at ease with his new team.

Hopefully, Seth Curry can become a steady hand for the Warriors. 76ers fans only have fond memories of him, and given how he played for the franchise, they will definitely be rooting for his individual success.
