The New York Knicks have snatched up a player from the Philadelphia 76ers’ developmental pipeline.
Heading into training camp, the defending champions reportedly agreed to an Exhibit 10 deal with the 24-year-old forward, Igor Milicic. The young forward has had plenty of stops since coming to the United States, and the Knicks are just now a part of his NBA pro journey, as he looks to enter the NBA officially.
Where it all started for Igor Milicic
The former Sixers forward played in Poland in 2019, before making his way to Germany in the same year. By 2021, Milicic came to the USA to compete in the NCAA. He ended up going to three different schools from 2021 to 2025.
At first, Milicic played at the University of Virginia. He appeared in 16 games as a freshman and entered the transfer portal at the end of the year. In the following season, Milicic attended Charlotte to play for the Charlotte 49ers. He had a slightly better run over there, averaging 7.7 points and 4.1 rebounds in 35 outings.
For the second and final time of his NCAA career, Milicic transferred to Tennessee. He played in the SEC for 37 games. Each of his appearances was a start, while he averaged 25.4 minutes per game.
Milicic shot 47.2% from the field, averaging 9.4 points per game. He also came down with 6.7 rebounds per game and produced 1.9 assists per game. For Milicic, he hoped to get drafted in 2025. However, the 2025 NBA Draft came and went without a call. The Sixers added Milicic to a training camp deal in 2025. And when he failed to make the roster, the Sixers had Milicic join the NBA G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats.
With the Blue Coats, Milicic appeared in 32 games, averaging 18.3 minutes per game. The rookie forward shot 42.5% from the field and 25.2% from three. He averaged 7.0 points per game, along with 4.8 rebounds.
The Knicks swipe a prospect
With Milicic joining the Knicks on an Exhibit 10 deal, he’ll get to participate in camp with the champions. While his chances of making the final roster are extremely thin, it seems likely the 76ers could lose one of their G League prospects to Westchester.
Now that Milicic lands an Exhibit 10 with the Knicks, it’s easier for New York to get him on their developmental roster for the upcoming season.
Milicic is the second member of the Sixers’ organization to head to New York this offseason. The veteran center Andre Drummond was the first. When free agency opened up back in late June, Drummond opted to sign a new deal with the Knicks. The Sixers replaced Drummond’s spot with the ex-Knicks center, Ariel Hukporti, who didn’t get an extended option from the team.
