Lakers may have just gifted the 76ers their next reclamation project

The 76ers should pounce immediately.

With just nine games left to play on their schedule, the Philadelphia 76ers do not have a lot to play for to end the regular season aside from trying to rack up as much losses as possible to get the best possible odds in the draft lottery. Suffice to say that at this point, the team is just winging it as they flirt with the finish line.

Still, there is still some reason for fans to look forward to watching the team play it out on the hardwood, despite them being unwatchable for the most part. Quentin Grimes has become the team’s resident late-season star, and some last-minute additions are trying to fight their way back to the NBA.

The team has had a rollercoaster of new faces for quite some time now, making them a bit of a tough read for some opponents due to their unpredictability. This will probably go on as the season ends, although the 76ers could find room to accommodate another player who is looking for his next home in the league.

The 76ers could (and probably should) take a flier on Cam Reddish

The Lakers, which now suddenly find themselves in legitimate contention after the trade that had them miraculously housing Luka Doncic, seem to be getting less forgivable in their roster construction ahead of the postseason, dropping the hammer on fan favorite Cam Reddish to make room for Jordan Goodwin, whose contract they converted from a two-way deal into an standard NBA one.

Reddish, who actually had a meaningful role with Los Angeles last season before riding the bench for almost the entire campaign, now finds himself in limbo. However, there could be a place for him in Philly in the meantime.

The 76ers are basically hosting a nightly audition with their fringe additions, and it probably wouldn’t be any harmful if they extend the same to Reddish, who touts some promise despite his sheer inconsistencies.

Reddish, known for his scoring prowess, albeit of the inefficient kind, early in his career, has grown into a more than passable defender with the Lakers when Darvin Ham was still at the helm. He also touts great size for his position, offering some malleability as a team defender thanks to his 6’8” frame.

The Philadelphia 76ers are not engaged in basketball eleemosynary, but they are definitely incentivized to try scouting the market for possible cheap, yet impactful additions. With Cam Reddish, there is at least something to hold onto, even if it’s not much.
