Looking beyond the Philadelphia 76ers' primary roster, which has an open space that likely won't get filled until deeper into the 2026-2027 season, the Sixers have one more two-way slot they could fill at this stage of the offseason.
Since it's not rare for the Sixers to find hidden gems in their developmental prospects who split time between Philadelphia and Delaware, the final two-way slot could help the center depth, which is certainly a position of need for the 76ers.
Let's take a look at Drew Timme
The 6'10" 25-year-old big man from the Los Angeles Lakers just wrapped up an impressive G League run in 2025-2026.
Suiting up for the South Bay Lakers, Timme appeared in 13 G League games during the regular season run. Seeing the court for 28.7 minutes per game, Timme shot 56.3% from the field, producing 23.7 points per game. He also averaged 8.5 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.0 blocks.
Over the three-game playoff run, he averaged 21.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and nearly 1.0 blocks per game.
Coming out of Gonzaga, Timme wrapped up an impressive college run just to go undrafted in 2023. He started his career in the G League before landing with the Brooklyn Nets in 2025. On the Nets, Timme appeared in nine games, even collecting two starts. With 28.2 minutes of action over that time, he averaged 12.1 points and 7.2 rebounds.
Timme's run in Brooklyn eventually convinced the Lakers to give him a shot on a two-way. During the 2025-2026 season, he played in 27 games with the primary roster. Timme produced 3.4 points per game and 1.2 rebounds per game in 8.7 minutes of action.
He's not one to stretch the floor, but he can certainly score inside. He also has a reputation for being a strong rebounder on all levels, which would be a plus for the 76ers.
Let's talk LeBron
Many believed that the presence of LeBron in Philly would cause the Sixers to chase Anthony Davis or try to get Bronny, but don't forget LeBron's compliments for Timme.
Back in January, LeBron and Timme spent time playing together while the Lakers were shorthanded. Timme came off the bench for the team, and reporters gauged LeBron's thoughts on the young two-way center.

If you watched him anytime through college, if you watched him in any of the moments that he’s gotten in the NBA in Brooklyn or if you watched him, obviously my son plays a lot in the G League bouncing back and forth, he’s a smart basketball player. He knows how to play the game. And his IQ correlates to this level. So it’s great to see that the coaches have believed in him over the last three games and he’s shown what he’s capable of doing. So he’s an NBA player, here first. That’s a lot of time half the battle and the game will speak for itself.” via Lakers Nation
Its hard to assume that Drew Timme and the open two-way slot are at the front of LeBron's mind, but it's something worth exploring.
The Sixers could use another big
The depth chart currently has Joel Embiid starting, with Adem Bona and Ariel Hukporti fighting for the backup spot. The Sixers cut ties with the second-year center Johni Broome, sending him to the Los Angeles Clippers, in order to make room for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
The Sixers will likely scan the trade or buyout market during the season for help behind Embiid if the current situation doesn't seem stable. With Timme, the Sixers could see if they have something there, while having him compete in camp and take up minutes with the Delaware Blue Coats.
Currently, the Sixers have Caleb Love and Rayan Rupert occupying two spots. The Sixers are likely looking for a third.
