The season is only in its infancy stage, but it is as clear as day that the 76ers are going to be one of the teams to beat in this campaign. That is all thanks to the incredible job that their front office pulled off during the offseason. Mike Gansey, the franchise's new team president, was at the forefront of their blockbuster summer, and given the magnitude of their moves, he might just make history as he could end up being the first-ever unanimous Executive of the Year.

The award, which recognizes any team's high-ranking executive for their front office's moves and other maneuvers, has never had a unanimous winner, which actually makes sense. Unlike the other player and coaching awards, the Executive of the Year trophy is one that is not as controllable by narratives spun by the media. Also, it is one of those accomplishments that are more prone to subjective judgment.

76ers' Mike Gansey could be the first unanimous Executive of the Year

Gansey, who was hired after the 76ers axed Daryl Morey, brought in the fireworks this summer. First, he managed to pull off a blockbuster trade for All-NBA forward Jaylen Brown. He then led the crusade for Philly in the highly vaunted LeBron James sweepstakes which they ultimately won.

Aside from adding a couple of new superstars to the fold, the 76ers' head also struck gold in the open market. He acted fast in convincing the highly coveted Dean Wade to come to Philadelphia. He managed to sign Anfernee Simons to a massive bargain-bin contract. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who was languishing in Memphis, got recruited to play with LeBron in Philly.

All of these moves were more than enough to extend the franchise's championship window, which had been waning for in recent years. Now, the 76ers are nicely set up to win not only this season, but also in the coming years, thanks to their heady additions and a revamped nucleus that is unmatched in the NBA, talent-wise.

Fans and pundits alike have been in unison in their acclaim for Mike Gansey and his body of work this offseason. As such, no matter what happens with the 76ers in their chase for the championship, not only is he going to be the overwhelming favorite to win the Executive of the Year award, but he is also a realistic bet to be the first-ever unanimous winner of it.
