McCain struggled to score against Utah’s length

Stats: 21 minutes, 2 points, 4 rebounds, 1 turnover

The Jazz starting lineup was imposing, full of size and length. Here are their measurements:

Kessler, 7 '0.25 " with a 7' 4.25” wingspan

Hendricks, 6’8.25” with a 7' 0.5” wingspan

Williams, 6’6.5” with a 7' 1” wingspan

Sensabaugh, 6’6” with a reported 7' 2” wingspan

George, 6 '4 " with a 6' 5” wingspan

The result, McCain’s worst shooting night going 1/9 from the field. He didn’t lack in confidence and most of his shot attempts were quality looks. He was balanced during his three-point attempts and his shots were on target.

But it was apparent that the length affected his attempts inside the arc. He was not deterred by the length but will need to develop a counter to create more space for his shots going forward. He has the skill set to do so and may benefit from studying Jalen Brunson tape to develop his craft.

McCain demonstrated obvious toughness during this game as well. It was nice to see him get physical to box out and fight to deny passes after switching onto a larger player. He’s got the ability coupled with a good work ethic and toughness that demonstrates promise.
