Reggie Jackson must prove that his non-show during playoffs was coincidental
Back in 2021, Reggie Jackson had a strong presence as a backup point guard. but his production fluctuated during the last two years, especially in the NBA playoffs. Jackson is labeled as a high-value veteran, but don't be surprised if you see him starting as the 8th or 9th man in the rotation in the upcoming season.
The veteran reached the point to be a DNP in the NBA playoffs with the Nuggets. He only shot 33% from the field in 12 postseason games, and if he remains on the same path in Philadelphia, he might be out of the rotation even before the playoffs. Jackson will likely be a better fit with the 76ers considering that he played with Paul George for many years, but he will need to step it up once the season starts.
If Jackson can prove his worth as a backup scoring guard behind Tyrese Maxey, then the former Clippers' guard will remain active on the roster. However, he really needs to come out of the gates hot and score as efficiently as possible in order to remain high in the rotation hierarchy. Otherwise, he will end up as a veteran option at the end of the bench without a meaningful role for the team.
For the 76ers, the perfect scenario would be to replicate some of his highly valued performances from the 2021-22 season, when he registered an average of 16.8 points as the bench unit leader in the LA Clippers.
