The Summer League is a platform where incoming rookies get their first taste of NBA action. It’s a place where fans can watch their teams’ new additions and fantasize about their future expectations and production. Sometimes, repeated poor performances can produce feelings of dread and anxiety, but it is important to remain optimistic.

Summer League rosters also include a plethora of other NBA hopefuls. These players bring a wealth of professional playing experience and are vying for increased roles or meaningful contracts for themselves. On Saturday night, the veterans from the Philadelphia 76ers led a late rally to secure a comfortable victory against the Pistons — and they did it with style.

Let’s dive deep into these three standouts who certainly showed out for the 76ers in their latest dub in Vegas.

3. Ricky Council IV

Stats: 30 minutes, 24 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 turnover, +16

Council IV leaned on his athleticism, his main asset to get minutes next season, against Detroit. He relentlessly attacked the rim throughout the game. Council IV understands his strengths and relies on his quickness and athleticism to regularly access the restricted area. It is restricted for most, but for Council IV, it beckons his attention.

And when he has a clear pathway for takeoff, watch out!

He is fearless and seeks contact putting the onus on the referees to make a call. Does this lead to wild attempts? Yes. But it also got him to the line nine times converting all of them making the trips well worth it.

His hangtime is ridiculous. Sometimes he appears to defy physics as he floats in the air contorting his body to miraculously get his shot off. Does it work? Sometimes. But nonetheless, his aggressiveness is what helped tilt the game in the 76ers favor during the fourth quarter.

In their last game, the 76ers struggled to generate quality looks during the winding minutes. In this one, Council IV put pressure on the rim to get to the line. And our next player slowed things down providing a counter to keep the defense off-balance.
