3. Can the 76ers weave a reasonable trade for Dejounte Murray?
Atlanta’s shocking draft lottery win gave the middling franchise a much-needed and potential tide-shifter in their plans. That being said, this only gives their front office an additional cushion to move one of their backcourt stars and truly re-tool the roster in order to be a lot more competitive next season.
But despite the whirlwind of rumors on the Trae Young front, Dejounte Murray is actually the easier one to package. Few teams have an opening for a primary option like Young, but a lot of teams could use a fringe All-Star like Murray who can play on both ends when engaged and actually thrive in a lesser role.
For that reason, ironing out a reasonable deal for Murray merits some pondering if you’re the 76ers. The Hawks’ draft jackpot could macerate any form of greed from them in a hypothetical swap, and trading him to another team to open up cap space would probably be desirable as they venture out to find a more balanced tea composition for next season.
