2. Dejounte Murray could find that Philadelphia houses a better running mate
With the Atlanta Hawks failing to qualify for the playoffs once again, it’s rather safe to say that the Dejounte Murray trade hasn’t panned out for the franchise. And while their front office questionably resisted trading him in the middle of the season, it’s almost due diligence at this point to entertain offers for the one-time All-Star.
The Trae Young-Murray duo simply touts too limited of a ceiling to truly contend or be the backbone of a potential contender. However, the two-way guard could thrive in a situation where his role is much more defined, and this is exactly what the Philadelphia 76ers can present to him.
Philly needs a legitimate table-setter to relieve Maxey of facilitating duties, as well as a perimeter defender who can reliably guard the point of attack, especially in the backcourt. Both things are Murray’s bread-and-butter, and depending on Atlanta’s asking price, the 76ers making a move for him wouldn’t be the worst idea.
