5 Cost-friendly free agents still available for the 76ers
4. Veteran Justin Holiday should provide nice insurance at the wings
Fortifying the wings given the league’s current landscape will never be a heedless escapade. And while the 76ers actually have a good number of playable cogs at shooting guard, only one (Ricky Council IV) profiles as a great ball stopper. Clearly, the team needs to fortify perimeter defense at the position.
Justin Holiday, while not the defender he once was, shouldn’t hurt as a low-cost option to deepen the team’s wing rotation. Last season, he capably filled in for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Michael Porter Jr. when needed for Denver, shooting 40.4 percent from downtown on good violume while providing passable defense with his length and veteran smarts.
Already a one-time champion, Holiday would be a savvy veteran addition to the 76ers. Even better, he can still play in spurts, even adding great off-ball movement shooting to complement his ranginess on the defensive end.
