A team with Daryl Morey as its president is likely one running with a lot of gasoline in the trade engine. The Philadelphia 76ers certainly fit that billing, having already made a slew of major trades in recent years.
Really, there’s almost nothing that stops the franchise from getting even greedier next season. But within the realm of possibility, it’s extremely unlikely that the front office looks to move certain players. Here are the five most untouchable 76ers players in trade talks next season.
5. Trading Caleb Martin makes no sense for the 76ers
The 76ers somehow got Caleb Martin for chump change in free agency, albeit largely due to the latter and his camp’s puzzling oversight. Still, the damage is done, and both sides have no other choice but to coexist for at least the next four years, starting in 2024-25.
Martin, who could very well start for the team right off the bat next season, is too great of a bargain to flip in a deal. He is the kind of player whom teams should be lining up for considering his on-court value and contract.
Philadelphia could be tempted to make an upgrade at forward and replace Martin with a more resolute starter, but even as a bench piece, the amount of money he’s making is not considerable at all, especially commensurate to his production.
