5 Ring-chasers the Philadelphia 76ers can still sign in free agency

Just like that, the 76ers should be a hotspot for ring-chasers once again.

3. Marcus Morris Sr. would be a familiar, welcome face for the 76ers

Title contenders traditionally make swings for veterans to fill out the roster, and it would be in Philadelphia’s best interests to not wreck the altar and do the same. But what if I tell you that there’s a name out there who was a Sixer not too long ago and can still play a meaningful role?

You may have guessed it by now, by Marcus Morris Sr. is the point of allusion here. He spent the first half of last season with the 76ers, and despite a steep decline in minutes, he still managed to be a staple in the rotation before getting traded at the deadline. At this point, he remains unsigned, waiting for a taker that can help him net that championship ring.

As established, the team badly needs augmenting at forward, and Morris should be a natural short-term fix that can thicken the rotation at that juncture. He’s still a good three-point shooter, and he provides much-needed size and physicality to the position. Oh, and he’s a Philly native. That counts for something here.
