A former Rookie of the Year candidate might be yearning for a return to the NBA
After an under-the-radar stint with the Washington Wizards last season, former Rookie of the Year candidate Kendrick Nunn could be in for a return. The former Miami Heat guard decided to move to EuroLeague powerhouse Panathinaikos in October in hope of returning to the NBA this offseason. The Oakland product was able to become a star in the top European level.
When he joined the Greek club Panathinaikos, Nunn made it clear that he wanted to get back to the NBA. He might be available for a small price if the Philadelphia 76ers need some extra offensive punch in their perimeter. Nunn fought through injury after leaving the Miami Heat and joining the Los Angeles Lakers.
The explosive guard missed the 2021-22 season with injury and was not able to recover fully for the next two seasons. He struggled to curve a role in LA and only played 39 games before getting traded to Washington. During his four seasons in the NBA, Nunn averages 12.1 points on 45% shooting from the field and 36% from deep, while he was adding more than two assists and two rebounds through 193 games.
Nunn lost some of the edge he had due to injury, but he seems to getting back after an amazing year in the EuroLeague, which is the top-tier level of the European basketball stage. Nunn led his team to the EuroLeague championship game and his team back to prominence winning the trophy a couple of days ago.
He had 21 in the championship game against Real Madrid and finish his season in Europe with averages of 16 points on 46% shooting on twos and 41% percent shooting from beyond the arc. Nunn is an explosive athlete, and has great shooting touch and size for his position. With the Sixers needing some spark off their bench, the former Heat guard might be the ideal bargain deal for them.
