4 teams that could steal Buddy Hield from the 76ers this summer
3. Charlotte Hornets
Another team that badly needs a win-now calibration is the Charlotte Hornets, who have once again sputtered due to the injury bug biting them hard for what feels like the 28th straight year. LaMelo Ball’s lucrative extension kicks in next season, and the Hornets have to start injecting talent into their roster littered with misfits and brittle bodies.
What better role player to sign then than Buddy Hield, one of the league’s premiere role players and someone who barely misses a game? While he alone won’t be enough to catapult Charlotte into the playoff picture, he would be a relatively safe player to pluck in the market to help bolster their 27th-ranked offense.
Hield’s addition would give LaMelo Ball that designated volume three-point shooter he’s long needed, allowing them to play with more intentionality while accelerating their poignant pace. Their putrid defense will likely remain as is, but the Hornets have enough in-house solutions on that end as long as they clinch some health. They just gotta hope.
