3. Dennis Smith Jr. — PG/SG

Dennis Smith Jr.’s reemergence has been one of the best storylines in the NBA in recent years, and his perseverance has effectively given him a new and longer leash in the league. So as he approaches free agency, the veteran guard should have no shortage of suitors this time around.

Philadelphia could have an exodus of backcout players this offseason, so the safe bet is for the front office to explore their options in free agency to give Tyrese Maxey a more solid supporting cast. Smith should be on their shortlist, especially since they probably won’t try to break the bank for additions on the margins.

Smith’s biggest asset is his defensive prowess. One of the best on-ball defenders in the NBA, the 26-year-old has an uncanny skill in leveraging his foot speed to thwart opposing guards and their quick first-steps. He’s a legitimately reliable defender, to the point where his lacking scoring package is quickly compensated for.
