5 Former All-Stars the 76ers can sign for cheap in the offseason
4. D’Angelo Russell — PG/SG (PO)
D’Angelo Russell has been a common names tossed around by Lakers fans in trade speculations and trade machine concoctions, but the one-time All-Star has actually been their best perimeter player this season, averaging 17.5 points and 6.3 assists per outing on 46.5 shooting overall, which includes a highly impressive 41.7 success rate on three-pointers.
The soon-to-be 28-year-old has a player option to return to Hollywood next season, but he’s likely to decline it in anticipation of a relatively robust market for his services. His defensive shortcomings have been well-pronounced, but outside of that, there’s little reason to not believe that he can be a reliable starter in the league.
If the 76ers want even more firepower offensively (with Harris and Kelly Oubre Jr. all expected to skedaddle in free agency), Russell should be an attractive, medium-vost target for them. He’ll relieve Maxey from some of his facilitating burden, and inject more youth and scoring punch to an aging non-Maxey backcourt.
