4 Players on losing teams who should sign with the 76ers this summer

4. Simone Fontecchio — SF (Detroit)

Easily the trickiest get on this list, Simone Fontecchio will be a restricted free agent this summer, meaning that his current club, the Detroit Pistons, will have the ability to match any offer sheet for the young forward and retain him in their books.

Nevertheless, Philadelphia should make a play for the Italian, as they have enough pecuniary ammo to throw a toxic offer sheet anyway. Detroit’s degree of commitment to Fontecchio as a definite inclusion in its young core remains to be seen, and they could potentially be flicked away under the threat of an overpay.

Fontecchio would hypothetically be a perfect fit in Philly with Nicolas Batum being a flight risk due to retirement. He has good size and length for his position and touts an in-demand skillset as a malleable wing who can hit three-pointers on good volume and attack closeouts. His defense needs a spur, but his great court awareness provides him with the needed cushion to improve on that end.
