76ers post-draft starting lineup predictions for the 2024-25 season
76ers starting point guard: Tyrese Maxey
2023-24 Stats: 25.9 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 6.2 APG, 1.0 SPG
There’s intrigue in moving Tyrese Maxey back to his original position as a shooting guard, but the progress he’s shown this season as a perimeter catalyst and a primary table-setter could be stunted by a shift to a more off-ball designation.
Maxey will be the point guard of both the present and future in Philadelphia. Alas, barring an injury, he should be a near-lock to make the All-Star team once again next season. He’s slowly making his case as a top-five point guard in the NBA, and if he continues to make a leap on other departments, he could improve well enough to make the team comfortable handing himm the keys entirely to keep Embiid as fresh as possible, a la Tony Parker to Tim Duncan.
The 2023-24 Most Improved Player of the Year will have a sizeable responsibility both on and off the court for the franchise as one of its centerpieces. He showed that he can be one of the league’s best scorers when he slid into being the top dog last season when Embiid was injured. Hopefully, he can continue doing that while coexisting with the 2023 MVP.
