4 Remaining free agents that make absolutely no sense for the 76ers

The 76ers should absolutely look elsewhere when it comes to these four names.

After signing Reggie Jackson, the Philadelphia 76ers now only have two remaining spots to fill in their standard roster. Free agency is now completely over, and the front office can only afford additions with the veteran’s minimum, but there are still some options they can look at if they want to head to training camp with more definition as to what the lineup will look like come opening night.

From ring-chasers to young cogs looking to find a new home, Daryl Morey and his group still has the latitude to be creative in their approach. Having said that, some fruits are left unpicked for a reason, and here are four remaining free agents they may want to avoid at all costs.

4. Evan Fournier won’t provide a need for the 76ers

Despite the team’s plethora of acclaimed moves in the open market, no one will peg the 76ers as a spotless squad waiting for the championship to fall into their laps. They still have some question marks on their roster heading to the 2024-25 campaign, much of it involving their rather thin rotation and overall age.

Philadelphia could use more shooting at the wings with the non-Paul George ones not exactly being known for their stable three-point strokes, and despite this veteran having the stylings of someone who can help abate that, Evan Fournier makes zero sense as a prospective vet minimum addition to the team.

It’s been more than two years since the Frenchman looked like an NBA rotation-caliber player, and while his preference is to stay in the NBA, his age has only highlighted his weaknesses, particularly on the defensive end. There’s a reason why Tom Thibodeau had him stashed as a benchwarmer after just a full season, and his waning perimeter shot basically makes him a hard sell to any team, even if he brings the fireworks in Paris.
