Trade grade for the 76ers

Batum was basically a non-stats All-Star for the 76ers last season. Despite his meager counting stats, he was a massive part of the team’s dynamic. He rarely committed mistakes on both ends of the court, and despite his advanced his age, he continues to age like fine wine thanks to his high basketball IQ.

Part and parcel of what makes Batum such a perfect fit for Philadelphia is his ability to specifically thrive under such a low-usage role. He doesn’t need the ball in his hands, but he’s a pretty sharp decision-maker and a good connective passer.

Defensively, he’s a savvy positional stopper who can switch onto anyone thanks to his spatial awareness, length, and veteran smarts. He’s not the fastest of feet, but he sure gets the job done especially when tasked to defend quicker guards.

Getting back Nicolas Batum, a calming presence for the Philadelphia 76ers last season on both ends and even in the postseason, would be a huge win. But for that to happen, the team would have to part with some exra second-rounders and hope that the Clippers find themselves having no choice but to dangle him once more.

Grade: A+
