Grade the Trade: 76ers acquire elite sharpshooter in this low-cost proposal
76ers trade for elite sharpshooter in this low-cost proposal
In this proposed deal, the Philadelphia 76ers trade veteran forward Robert Covington, wing Furkan Korkmaz, and a 2024 second-round pick via the Knicks to the Memphis Grizzlies for swingman Luke Kennard.
Kennard, who was injured early on, has played just 24 games this season for the injury-riddled Grizzlies. He’s been one of their staples in recent games though, but Memphis’ lost season could prompt them to be sellers before the trade deadline, especially after the cost-cutting they did after trading Steven Adams just a few days back.
Shooting 44.8 percent on three-pointers this season on great volume, the 27-year-old is expected to command interest from teams in need of perimeter marksmanship. His potential price tag remains unknown, but the Grizzlies aren’t exactly in the position to demand a lofty return for his services.
How does this deal shape up for the 76ers? Let’s take a deeper dive.
