76ers trade for Brandon Ingram in this proposed offseason swap

In this trade proposal, the Philadelphia 76ers acquire forward Brandon Ingram from the New Orleans Pelicans for big man Paul Reed, the 76ers’ unprotected first-rounder this year, a top-three protected first-round pick in 2026, and finally, a lottery-protected first-rounder in 2028.

Hypothetically, this would a cap-clearing move for New Orleans, as the league-wide belief is that the Pelicans would heavily look into reshaping their roster around Zion Williamson. Trading Ingram, who is owed $36 million next season, would be massive, and having Trey Murphy III and Herb Jones on the roster has already macerated some of his on-court value.

Meanwhile, this trade effectively plays into the 76ers leveraging their cap space absorb a big contract, but this time, it’s for a pretty desirable one. Ingram is only signed for one more year, but he’ll likely be warm to the idea of a sign-and-trade or an eventual extension.

How does this trade fare for both teams? Let’s zoom in a tad more.
