3. The 76ers can address its thin forward core with Derrick Jones Jr.
Forward is not a strong suit for Philly, particularly depth-wise. Outside of Paul George and Caleb Martin, the 76ers don’t really have other natural forwards on the roster — a dangerous recipe for a team competing with other East powerhouses parading All-Star caliber forwards.
To solve this conundrum, the front office will surely try to address this void by pursuing more viable optiosn at forward before the trade deadline. One name they should zoom in on is Derrick Jones Jr., a starter for last season’s NBA Finalists before signing with the LA Clippers this offseason.
Formerly a one-trick pony as an uber-athletic wing with little else in his game, DJJ has improved leaps and bounds as a defensive stopper and a viable resort on offense. He shot the three-ball at a 34.3 percent rate last season and remained a constant threat on the rim as a lob option and cutter.
