Joel Embiid’s big surprise and 4 other standout moments from 76ers media day
2. On related news, the return of Ben-10?
While technically not 76ers-related, speaking of clockwork-like events, another proverbial thing aside from the Media Day itself made headlines yesterday. Wanna make a guess? It concerns a former Philadelphia star who has become a habitual absentee in what seems like a near-decade already.
Yes, Ben Simmons, who’s still somehow with the Nets, has boldly proclaimed that he will be ready to play come opening night. Not a lot of eyes are on Brooklyn this season given the fire sale they are holding, but this one might be worth monitoring, if only to see if his statement remains as fragile as his body has become.
Kidding aside, there’s little harm to wanting to see an All-Star caliber player like Simmons (when healthy) return to form and be a key component for whatever team’s he’s on. Unfortunately, injuries have derailed him left and right, making it really difficult to bank on him living up to his annual promises.
Wanna bet on it?
