Knicks vs. Sixers key players to watch

New York Knicks

Josh Hart: Don’t expect a warm homecoming for Hart, a Villanova product who was a crucial part in New York grabbing a 2-0 lead. With Jalen Brunson struggling, Hart picked up the slack, combining for 43 points on 8-of-15 shooting from beyond the arc in the first two games of the series.

Philadelphia 76ers

Buddy Hield: Philadelphia’s role players have to step up if the 76ers have any chance of rallying in this series. It starts with Hield, who combined for just two points on 1-of-5 shooting (0-for-3 from the perimeter) over 26 minutes in the first two games of the series. Hield is averaging 12.1 points per game this season and needs to find a groove to get Philadelphia back on track.

Knicks vs. Sixers prediction and pick

The 76ers have not lost three consecutive games with Joel Embiid on the floor, which is likely why the reigning Most Valuable Players was adamant that the 76ers will still win the series. Philadelphia is in must-win mode and a return to its home venue will be a nice remedy for a team desperate to get on the board after a devastating Game 2 loss.

New York has a great road record this season but has gone just 11-12-1 ATS against the spread as an away underdog. Philadelphia was above average in this spot with a 20-16 ATS mark following a loss and a 21-12 mark as a home favorite.

The 76ers’ role players should play better at home than on the road in a hostile environment, which they desperately need as Tyrese Maxey and Embiid have done enough for the team to win in the first two games of the series. Philadelphia’s defense has been excellent in containing Jalen Brunson so far, holding the lethal scorer to 16-of-55 from the floor (29.1%) and 2-of-12 from beyond the arc.

Philadelphia needs it too much to stay away from the home favorites in this spot while the Knicks could be riding too high after an improbable finish to Game 2. Lay the points with the 76ers.
