Kyle Lowry will be essential for the Sixers' playoff push
By David Rooney
He can bring a steady presence to the second unit
One area where the Sixers’ second unit has struggled is turnovers. They turn the ball over too much, and this hurts them in two ways. First, it kills any sort of cohesion or rhythm that their offense can get into. The second negative impact turnovers have is they give the opposing team confidence and momentum, as well as easy points.
Lowry is a veteran point guard with experience in pressure situations. He was one of the primary ballhandlers on a championship squad, so he knows how to keep his wits about him when the lights are the brightest.
Although Lowry won’t be playing starter minutes with Philadelphia and might not even be closing out games, his poise will be a huge factor in the performance of the second unit. The younger guys will be able to look to Lowry as the calm in the chaos, and he will make them all better.
