Potential first-round opponents for the 76ers
New York Knicks
Season Series: Knicks lead, 2-0
The Numbers: New York (10th in ORtg, 11th in DRtg) vs Philadelphia (6th in ORtg, 14th in DRtg)
New York has cooled off recently after a midseason streak, but Tom Thibodeau’s squad has one of the most loaded rosters in the league, especially after the trade deadline.
Julius Randle has turned in another strong season, and while he’s currently sidelined due to injury, but he’s expected to return to the lineup before the playoffs commence. Ditto for OG Anunoby. Meanwhile, Jalen Brunson escaped peril as his scary injury was deemed to be relatively minor, giving him a window to return in time for the postseason.
The 76ers have succumbed to the Knicks twice this season, each in blowout fashion. That being said, should they be matched up with New York in the playoffs, expect a long series, especially if Joel Embiid returns and Tyrese Maxey continues putting up All-Star numbers as the first option on the interim. The Knicks’ fragile health is also a big fact
