4. Sixers go all-in as Hawks sell-off
Things have not gone as planned in Atlanta, and the Hawks are considering selling before the deadline. Dejounte Murray is firmly in trade rumors, but he is far from the only player they could move. The Hawks may try to deal De’Andre Hunter, Clint Capela, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and Saddiq Bey before Feb. 8.
If Philadelphia is searching for multiple pieces, Atlanta could be the perfect trade partner. The Sixers have a strong foundation in Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Tobias Harris, but they need more top-end talent to compete with Boston and Milwaukee. Getting Murray and Bogdanovic in this deal could make them the 76ers true title contenders.
Philly instantly has a strong starting five and an elite sixth man. They would have De’Anthony Melton or Nicolas Batum and Kelly Oubre Jr. to round out their playoff rotation. Head coach Nick Nurse will lean heavily on his best players but would have the depth to defeat any team.
The Hawks gave up four first-round picks to get Dejounte Murray, so they would certainly be selling low here. Are the 76ers three first-rounders enough? Atlanta wants more, but getting the offer is another story.
If the Philadelphia 76ers cannot find a workable trade with the Hawks, they could pivot to an available forward on a rebuilding squad.
