4. Find a third star

The 76ers are keeping their cap space open to add another top-end talent to pair with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. The reigning MVP is one of two Sixers players on a guaranteed contract for the 2024-25 season. They can have max cap space this summer, but who can the franchise add in free agency?

LeBron James, Paul George, and Klay Thompson are the current top names who could hit the open market. Can the 76ers convince one of them to come to Philadelphia or does Daryl Morey need to swing a trade to bring in a third star? They need a plan. There is no sense in maintaining cap space if they will have to trade for a top-end talent this summer.

The Sixers have two first-round draft picks to trade before the deadline. It may not be enough to land a star, but Morey should explore the market. They want another top-end talent but need someone who fits next to Embiid and Maxey. Philadelphia should be searching for a point guard or a wing that pushes them into title contention.

Acquiring a star is always pricey. If they cannot find someone to switch teams in free agency, the Philadelphia 76ers will need all the assets they can get.
