Trade deadline boost: Land a third star

The 76ers should act now if they plan on adding another star to their roster. Pascal Siakam is expected to re-sign with the Pacers after Indiana’s blockbuster trade, and Kawhi Leonard extended with the Clippers. Paul George may be the next All-Star off the market, and there may be no marquee names left by the time free agency arrives.

Several former All-Stars are currently available via trade. Players are taking the guaranteed money and asking out later. They do not need to hit free agency when they can sign a massive extension and request a trade if things do not work as planned.

Dejounte Murray, Zach LaVine, and DeMar DeRozan headlined the current names on the trade block, but do not rule out an unexpected star popping up before the deadline. The 76ers may not have the assets to land a Donovan Mitchell, but they should certainly explore every possibility ahead of the deadline.

Finding a third star is the Philadelphia 76ers' fastest path to title contention. Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey give them hope of making a deep postseason run, but the franchise needs one more marquee name to be among the championship favorites. Daryl Morey is always star-hunting and is never afraid to make a significant splash.
