5 Trades to fill Philadelphia 76ers’ biggest hole

The 76ers want to make a trade, but should they be focused on rounding out their roster over adding another star?

2. 76ers convince Toronto to part with OG

The Raptors are another talented team that could head into a rebuild before the deadline. Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, and Gary Trent Jr. are all in the final year of their contracts. Toronto lost Fred VanVleet in free agency last summer and cannot afford to let another talented player walk out the door.

Anunoby won’t sign an extension because he can only get a four-year $117 million maximum deal. If he becomes a free agent in the summer of 2024, the 6’7 wing can get significantly more on the open market. Every team wants a player like OG, and he will get paid. Could Philly jump the line and trade for him before the deadline? Here is a potential offer.

OG trade

Toronto turned down three first-round picks at the 2023 trade deadline, but is a team willing to offer that for an expiring contract? There would be a massive risk in losing him after just one playoff run, but Anunoby has the talent to make that gamble worthwhile.

Expect the Philadelphia 76ers to offer a significant package for OG Anunoby before the Feb. 8 deadline. He is the 3-and-D wing that every team desires and would be the perfect fit next to Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. Daryl Morey could go for a star over finding the ideal role player.
