3. Jared McCain
Despite concerns around Nick Nurse’s proclivity to not playing rookies, which is backed by not-too-distant precedence, the 76ers drafted Jared McCain under the belief that he could — and should — crack the rotation right away.
McCain’s mixed showings in the Summer League, however, reinforces his initial billing as someone who shouldn’t be relied on to playmake. He’s more of a scorer at this point, and having Jackson next to him would provide him the cushion to double down and focus on his strengths while working on his shortcomings as a table-setter.
Jackson’s veteran experience should also come in handy for McCain who, while coming from a well-acclaimed collegiate program, would benefit from his mentorship thanks to his extensive playoff experience.
