Pistons vs. Sixers NBA expert prediction and odds for Tuesday, April 9 (Sixers should roll)

Betting odds, pick and prediction for the Detroit Pistons-Philadelphia 76ers matchup on Tuesday night.

The Philadelphia 76ers are surging, as they’ve won five straight games to move into the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference, just one game behind the sixth-seeded Indiana Pacers.

Philly has a very winnable matchup on Tuesday against the Detroit Pistons, who have nothing to play for but the No. 1 pick at this point in the season.

Joel Embiid missed Philly’s overtime win on Sunday, but Tyrese Maxey poured in 52 points on 19-of-41 shooting to lead the Sixers to a win. With the Miami Heat (No. 8 in the East) right behind Philly, this is a must-win to improve the team's playoff chances.

Pistons vs. Sixers key players to watch

Detroit Pistons

Marcus Sasser: A first-round pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Sasser has seen a little more action for the Pistons as of late, averaging 7.8 points per game across 24.4 minutes per game since the start of March. For a Detroit team that isn’t anywhere near the playoffs, Sasser’s development is a priority over these last few games.

Philadelphia 76ers

Tyrese Maxey: Coming off a 52-point game, Maxey is looking to stay hot against one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA. Maxey has scored 24 or more points in six of his last eight games, and the one-time All-Star has 37 and 52 point showings in two of his last three.

Pistons vs. Sixers prediction and pick

This should be an easy win for a Sixers team that thrives when Embiid is in the lineup, going 29-8 straight up in 37 games.

Detroit has lost by double-digits in recent games against Brooklyn and Memphis – two non-playoff teams – and the Sixers are fighting for a chance to avoid the play-in tournament in this matchup.

The team blew out Memphis with Embiid on Saturday, and if the reigning MVP is in action tonight, I expect Philly to cruise to a victory.

The Sixers have been elite as home favorites all season long, going 18-11 against the spread.

Don’t overthink this pick, bet on the Sixers to cover.

Pick: Sixers -15 (-110)
