The Pistons and the Sixers will square off for the second time in the last three days tonight at the Wells Fargo Center. Philadelphia just defeated Detroit on Wednesday night, 129-111, thanks to a fantastic performance from reigning league MVP Joel Embiid (41 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists).

The Sixers opened as a 16.5-point home favorite over the lowly Pistons, but that number has moved to 15.5. Philadelphia has won four consecutive games and will look to make it five in front of their fans tonight.

Pistons vs. Sixers key players to watch

Detroit Pistons

Bojan Bogdanovic: Bogdanovic had the hot hand when these two teams played each other on Wednesday night in Detroit. The veteran forward scored a team-high 33 points on 11-of-19 from the field and 6-of-8 from beyond the arc. Bogdanovic and Cade Cunningham were the only two Detroit players with 20 or more points. The Pistons will need a similar effort tonight to snap their 21-game losing streak.

Philadelphia 76ers

Joel Embiid: The Pistons did not have any answers for the reigning league MVP earlier this week as Embiid dropped 41 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists in 31 minutes. Under first-year head coach Nick Nurse, Embiid is playing better than last season, which is scary.

This season, Embiid leads the league in scoring (33.8 points per game) while producing 11.5 rebounds and 6.4 assists (career-high) per game. He’s become a more well-rounded player on offense, which has helped this Sixers’ team be one of the better teams in the East this season.

Pistons vs. Sixers prediction and pick

The Sixers have dominated the season series up to this point against the Pistons, winning by 13 points per game and scoring 121.5 points per game. On Wednesday night, Philly dominated the Pistons on the glass (53-35) and held Detroit to 44.3% shooting from the field and 30.3% from three-point range.

Heading into tonight’s game, Philadelphia is a double-digit favorite, which isn’t surprising, given that the Pistons have lost 21 consecutive games. The Sixers are 3-1 against the spread when listed as a double-digit favorite this season. They’ve also won four straight games and are 3-1 ATS over that stretch.

On the other side of the court, I don’t see much changing for the Pistons, who have the worst record in the NBA this season. They have a good collection of young players, but it still hasn’t brought in wins. No matter how many points Cunningham or Bogdanovic scores, this team is still ways behind.

That being said, I like the Sixers to win tonight as Embiid has another monster performance. But I’ll also take the OVER, which has hit in eight consecutive games for Philadelphia.
