The Philadelphia 76ers will enter the 2024-25 NBA season bannering three legitimate All-Stars on the roster thanks to a splendid offseason. They will definitely be well-represented in the All-Star Game, but as is the case for the last 22 years, the annual festivities won’t be in Pennsylvania.
Instead, this year’s All-Star Game will be held at Chase Center in San Francisco, California, home of the Golden State Warriors. The next two iterations have also been raffled already to other hosts, with the 2026 games slated to be held at the new Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, the freshly opened abode of the LA Clippers, and the Phoenix Suns hosting it in 2027 at the Footprint Center in Arizona.
Predicting future NBA All-Star Game Locations: When will the 76ers host one
Hosting the All-Star Game is a big honor not only because it is a massive economic boost to the city, but also because it brings the biggest stars of the game nearer to fans while helping local communities and causes through the games. That’s why it would be very meaningful for the 76ers to host one, a privilege it hasn’t enjoyed since 2002.
So, when will the 76ers get to host the ASG? Well, the city of Philadelphia has recently released reports aimed at analyzing the proposed new arena located in Center City. That’s still too preliminary to hint at a major change, but it’s a step nonetheless.
In recent years, the NBA has awarded hosting duties to teams with tangible developments in their respective cities, though it is not absolute. Realistically speaking, though, the 76ers are unlikely to be conferred with the All-Star Game after the Suns will host the same in 2027. Their turn could come after 2030.
For the sake of cursory predictions, though, here is a prediction on future All-Star Game locations:
2028: Boston, Massachussetts — With no new arenas in sight, the Celtics, which last hosted the ASG in 1964, should be in line for another nod after a staggering 64 years.
2029: San Antonio, Texas — The Spurs are slowly expanding their market to Austin and New Mexico, and the establishment of their state-of-the-art training facility and tangible plans for a new arena makes San Antonio a prime candidate to host the ASG. Oh, and Victor Wembanyama.
2030: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma — Already a powerhouse, OKC has commenced plans to build a new arena last year. The Thunder could already be champions by 2030, firmly cementing them as a market to watch.
