3. George McGinnis

Power forward George McGinnis was already a superstar in the ABA before he signed with the Sixers at the start of the 1975 season. His resume included being named to three ABA All-Star teams with the Indiana Pacers, McGinnis was named the ABA Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1975 and won two ABA championships with the team.

With the 76ers, McGinnis signed a six‐year, $3.2 million and helped catapult Philadelphia back to relevance in the 1975-76 season putting up 23 PPG along 12.6 rebounds.

The following year, he teamed with Julius “Dr. J” Irving and led to Sixers to the NBA Finals where they fell 4-2 to the Portland Trailblazers. In his three-year sting in Philly, McGinnus made three All-Star teams before being traded to the Denver Nuggets for Bobby Jones.
