Through 49 games, the Sixers currently sit at 30-19 and are in 5th place in the Eastern Conference. Since the calendar turned to 2024, things have been a whirlwind for the Sixers. From injuries to illnesses, winning streaks, and losing streaks, things have been unpredictable and uncertain for this team as of late.

In early January, the Sixers lost 3 games in a row. They immediately followed that up with a 6-game win streak that put them at 29-13 after Joel Embiid’s 70-point performance against the San Antonio Spurs on January 22nd. Since then, the Sixers have been losers of 6 of their last 7 games.

There is no denying that a lot has transpired over the last couple of weeks for the Sixers. No news story has been more notable than the Joel Embiid meniscus injury that will require surgery.

This news hurts. Joel Embiid’s performance this season has been nothing short of sensational. The 2022-23 NBA MVP was looking poised for a second-consecutive MVP. With him now expected to miss significant time, he will now be ineligible to win the MVP. He has been producing at an absurdly high level, averaging over 35 points per game. You have to feel for Joel Embiid now that he will be missing significant time with this recent injury.

With that being said, let’s start with some good news. What does this team have to be thankful for? What do Sixers fans have to be excited about?
