After an uncomfortable amount of waiting, the Philadelphia 76ers have successfully re-signed free agent guard Kyle Lowry. The veteran playmaker was previously rumored to be eyed by another playoff contender, but he’s now safely seated with the team after spending the latter portion of the previous campaign in Philly.

Lowry’s addition brings much-needed backcourt security for a 76ers team sorely missing such. While already 38 and well past his prime, the one-time NBA champion should remain a valuable role player for the uber-talented squad.

Updated 76ers roster, depth chart after signing Kyle Lowry

Here is an updated look at the current 76ers roster and depth chart.

PG: Tyrese Maxey | Kyle Lowry | Jared McCain

SG: Kelly Oubre Jr. | Eric Gordon | Ricky Council IV

SF: Paul George

PF: Caleb Martin

C: Joel Embiid | Andre Drummond | Adem Bona

With second-round pick Adem Bona expected to land a standard NBA contract, the 76ers now have 11 players on the regular roster, leaving them with four more openings. Clearly, Philly needs more help at forward, as they only have two players playing the position as of writing.

Luckily, there’s a lot of interchangeability with their shooting guards, as all three currently sloted in at the position can also handle being the nominal small forward in spurts. Still, the front office will be best-served scouring the market for more direct answers to fill the gap.

Meanwhile, Jared McCain is a third-stringer on paper, but he already looks the part as a legitimate rotation-caliber player. He can either supplant Lowry in the rotation if he develops his passing chops or Eric Gordon if he proves to be a more consistent and available option.

While the Philadelphia 76ers have formed a pretty formidable roster, especially at its nucleus, the job is far from done from a roster construction standpoint. Even better, the front office seems ready to address each need one move at a time.
