Wizards vs. Sixers prediction and odds for Monday, Dec. 11 (Bet the Over in Philly)
By Jovan Alford
The Sixers will welcome the Wizards back to the Wells Fargo Center tonight as they look to win their third straight game over Washington. Philadelphia currently leads the season series 2-0 after they defeated the Wizards 131-126 last week.
Philadelphia opened as a 12.5-point home favorite over Washington, but that number has moved to 11.5 ahead of tonight's opening tip. The Sixers hope to have Joel Embiid for tonight's game, who is listed as questionable with knee soreness. Embiid torched the Wizards last week for 50 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists.
Here are the odds and our best bet for Washington-Philadelphia:

Wizards vs. Sixers key players to watch
Washington Wizards
Jordan Poole: In the Wizards’ most recent matchup against the Sixers, Poole scored 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field and 3-of-5 from deep. The 24-year-old Poole has struggled to find his offense this season, but against the Sixers, he’s had some success – 23 points per game on 58.1% shooting from the field and 50% from three-point range. The Wizards hope that trend will continue tonight in the City of Brotherly Love.
Philadelphia 76ers
Tyrese Maxey: Maxey is coming off an outstanding performance against the Hawks last Friday night. The 23-year-old guard had 30 points (8-18 FG, 4-8 3pt), seven assists, and two rebounds in Philadelphia’s 11-point win. Maxey has scored 30 or more points in three out of his last four games. In the Sixers’ 131-126 win over the Wizards last week, the young point guard had 26 points and seven assists.
Wizards vs. Sixers prediction and pick
The Sixers have dominated the Wizards through two games this season, scoring 138.5 points per game and shooting 53.5% from the field. Defense hasn’t been one of the Wizards’ strengths this season (125.3 points per game allowed), and the Sixers have exploited that in their first two matchups.
Philadelphia heads into tonight’s game as a double-digit favorite despite Joel Embiid being listed as questionable with left knee soreness. The Sixers haven’t played well without Embiid on the floor (0-3 straight up) this season. However, I still believe that with Maxey leading the charge, they can beat the Wizards without Embiid.
Speaking of the Wizards, they are on a three-game road losing streak. Two out of three losses were by double-digits. The last time Washington won on the road was against the Pistons on Nov. 27, but that isn’t saying much.
The Wizards need more consistent performances from Poole, especially if they want to upset the Sixers tonight. Kyle Kuzma, who is Washington’s leading scorer this season, cannot do it all by himself.
With Embiid banged up, I’ll pass on taking the spread for this matchup and instead jump on the total. In the first two meetings between these two teams, the totals were 274 and 257. I don’t see the Wizards’ defense slowing down a Sixers’ offense scoring 120.9 points per game this season.
