The Philadelphia 76ers are an absolute embarrassment this season. On the heels of two, consecutive losses to kickstart their post-All-Star break slate, they made sure to follow those up with yet another humiliation, this time to one of their main competition for the final play-in tournament spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Chicago Bulls, now 2.5 games ahead of the 76ers in the standings for 10th place, came to the Wells Fargo Center and made a sheer mockery of the hosts to the tune of a 32-point beatdown. yet the final score even fails to give justice as to how bad Philly was in this game as the visitors even led by 50 at one point. Yes, you read that right –– 50.

Joel Embiid was not in uniform for this one, which is to be expected following yet another report that the team is continuing to explore options to deal with his nagging knee issue. If anything, this should foreclose any realistic shot of the 76ers sneaking into the postseason.

Renowned doctor proposes daring solution for the 76ers to fix Joel Embiid's injury issue

The 76ers have not yet made any categorical statement as to the status of Joel Embiid for the rest of the season. In fact, they even listed him as questionable against Chicago, signaling that he could have played if the team needed him to.

Well, the squad certainly need him, but not at his current state. To be frank, it is a big surprise that the 76ers brass has not yet ruled him out moving forward. At this point, the team is basically pandering in nonsensical delay of the inevitable.

Having said that, the fact that the team and Embiid's camp are seeking other solutions for the superstar's knee issue is far from actual news as it is a mere restatement of what has been going on for him behind the scenes. In fact, their options now seem so limited that a renowned doctor went as far as suggesting that the 2023 MVP undergo a daring procedure.

Brian Sutterer, a well-known sports medicine doctor on social media, argued that the 76ers do not really have a lot of options at this point to fix Embiid's knee.

We have apparently reached a point where a transplant is mentioned regarding Joel Embiid. If that's not a daunting proposition, I don't know what quantifies as such anymore.

The Philadelphia 76ers badly need a resolution to this quagmire, but at this rate, what could await them is a significant time of uncertainty as a franchise. And to make matters worse, there is simply no way they could pivot off of this in the near future.
