There were a handful of teams that were so obviously in on attempting to lure in LeBron James during his few-week free agency run. Before the Philadelphia 76ers won his services, the Golden State Warriors were one of the favorites to bring him in.
The entire hoops world knew that Draymond Green was doing what he could to convince LeBron to stay out in California with his team. Most assumed that Steph Curry was contributing as well, but the star guard stayed silent on the topic until months later.

When asked about whether he attempted to lure in LeBron or not, Curry made it clear that he is no fool. If any team looked the other way at the opportunity to potentially sign LeBron James on a minimum contract just one season after he was an All-Star, they would be foolish.
The Warriors lost the James sweepstakes. The star forward's "final" decision came down to signing with the 76ers. Clearly, James is a fan of what the 76ers have on board: Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, and VJ Edgecombe.
Of course, there is always going to be an outside assumption that James will want to have it his way, which could result in somebody getting replaced. We've heard it enough with Joel Embiid and Anthony Davis. Will the superstar guard Steph Curry become another rumored pipe dream for the Sixers, due to his obvious interest in playing with LeBron?
Don't count on a Steph Curry sweepstakes
Similar to LeBron last season, Curry is going into the new basketball year with a one-year deal. He is set to make a notable $62.5 million. At this stage, Curry can extend, and the Warriors would more than likely offer him the maximum amount.
For anybody holding out hope for Curry to say, "let's try again next summer," before he takes a flight to wherever else he wants to go, you can probably stash that dream away. Curry might've wanted to play with LeBron, but only if it meant with the Dubs.
"I want to be a lifer with Golden State," Curry told NBC Sports Bay Area. The Warriors wanted Giannis Antetokounmpo before his move to Miami, but we don't hear about Curry wanting to pack up and go to Florida. We can probably assume that the star sharpshooter feels the same way about the situation in Philly.
