The Philadelphia 76ers made a ton of moves this summer. Signing LeBron James shook up the entire league. The same goes for their trade for Jaylen Brown. Philly now sports one of the best lineups in basketball. Yet even after their summer of moves, Tyrese Maxey remains the best player on the Sixers. He proved that on Halloween night.

Maxey was an absolute monster on Saturday night. The Sixers took down the Charlotte Hornets in a close game, and Maxey led the way. He finished the game with 38 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals while shooting 13-of-23 from the field and 4-of-9 from beyond the three-point arc.

He was an absolute monster, and throughout the early stages of the season, he’s proved that he’s still the No. 1 option in Philadelphia.

Tyrese Maxey is still the 76ers' best player

When you add a guy like James or Brown to your roster, you’re almost always doing so for them to come in and be the top option. They’re just that good.

James has been the best player on four different championship teams. He’s one of – if not the – greatest players in the history of basketball. His impact doesn’t really need an explanation.

Then, there’s Brown. Just two years ago, he was NBA Finals MVP. Last year, he was an All-Star, on All-NBA Second Team, and the best player on a 56-win Boston Celtics squad.

But Maxey is as good as it gets. One of the best scorers in the NBA, capable of putting the team on his back when it matters most. The guy you want to put the ball in the hands of.

James and Joel Embiid were both out on Saturday night. The Hornets were dealing with their own injuries, but the Sixers were short some very key guys, too.

Maxey stepped up, no problem. Brown played well, too, but Maxey was the best player on the court by a mile. He’s got a knack for scoring the ball that few players in the entire league have.

Once the playoffs come around, if the Sixers need a bucket, they have plenty of options. But Maxey may be the top one. He’s so dynamic with the ball in his hands. So elite at shooting from everywhere on the court.

He’s the best player on the Sixers. The offensive engine. The guy who Philly should want to run most of its offense through. He’s that guy.
