Well, it seems like VJ Edgecombe is not really that fazed about a potential decrease in his role amid the Philadelphia 76ers bringing in a couple of All-Stars in LeBron James and Jaylen Brown to add to their embarrassment of riches in the talent department. The incoming sophomore seems intent on doubling down on his aggressiveness on the offensive end, and that is definitely going to be music to the ears of every fan.
In a recent exchange, Edgecombe quelled the concerns of fans and pundits alike about how the arrival of James and Brown could have a drastic effect on his role for the upcoming season. While admitting that there is indeed uncertainty as to whether he will get more or fewer shots compared to his rookie campaign, he assured people that he will remain aggressive and just keep playing his game, downplaying talks about how his development could get stunted.
"I mean, it don’t matter what happens, there’s always going to be someone that has something to say. But I just want to win.I’m going to still be aggressive, still be myself. If that comes with less shots or more shots, who knows.I don’t know how the course of the game is going to go. I’m just excited to play alongside my teammates. I think we have a chance to do something really special."

With four All-Stars in James, Brown, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey all ahead of him in the expected pecking order, it is only natural for people to express concerns about Edgecombe possibly having to sacrifice the most to make things work. After all, the indisputable truth is there is only one ball to go around their embarrassment of riches talent-wise.
The 76ers coaching staff, however, is not a foolish bunch. Of course, Nick Nurse and company will try to find a way to maximize Edgecombe, and that could very well come by staggering his minutes and realigning certain configurations to make the incoming sophomore play more with the bench guys, so he will have more liberty to hunt for his own shots and go get his numbers.
As such, keeping his level of aggression becomes even more important. He might get the smallest slice of the scoring pie when he plays with the four stars around him, but he cannot afford to just stay passive for the most part. He will get more shots in certain lineups as a featured option, so he has to be proactive as a creator and finisher –– areas where he showed glimpses of becoming elite at moving forward last season.
The 76ers will be in the inner loop of title contenders next season, but their biggest X-factor may actually be the lone player on their projected starting five who has not sniffed any hardware. VJ Edgecombe remains a critical component of this team, and his ability to stay aggressive will be key for the team to remain lethal for a full 48 minutes.
