Several players who previously donned a Philadelphia 76ers uniform have already found their next stops this offseason, but Georges Niang is one name in particular who has not been successful in doing that. Fortunately for him, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Golden State Warriors are interested in plucking him off the open market, giving the former fan favorite a possible lifeline to stay in the league.
Niang was completely absent last season due to a foot injury that sidelined him for an entire year. He got traded twice last summer, but the Jazz never got to deploy him out before he got shipped to the Grizzlies in the middle of the season. Since getting waived, there has been little noise surrounding the veteran, making this rumor a much-welcomed development for his camp.

Niang, who suited up for the 76ers from 2021 to 2023, is one of the best available sharpshooters in the free agency market. A career 39.9 percent three-point shooter, he will undoubtedly be a good addition to any team in need of more perimeter shooting without getting cudgeled into breaking the bank.
The "Minivan" is already 33 years old and is coming off a major foot injury, which will only exacerbate his already snail-paced foot speed. But with the right team, he should still be able to be a useful contributor off the bench as a plug-and-play guy who can be counted on to hit open shots and not make a lot of mistakes.
After missing out on LeBron, the Warriors have become completely stagnant in the offseason. They did manage to re-sign Gary Payton II, but they still have a couple of roster spots to fill. Their aging core is already sinking in the brutal Western Conference, so they have to at least fill the holes they are currently dealing with on their roster. Depth at forward is one of those, especially with Jimmy Butler not expected to make his return until the next calendar year due to a torn ACL.
Niang was a clear-cut fan favorite when he was with the 76ers, thanks to his effective style of play and great off-court disposition. Those are traits the Warriors faithful will definitely savor if they get him, even though he would only add more mileage to Golden State's aging roster.
